Both my kids grew up participating in Scouts, and the motto for both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts is to "be prepared." Being prepared for anything from a campout to a board meeting is supposed to be covered. But for someone who struggles with being hyper-vigilant [here I am, raising my hand and waving it around], being prepared can sometimes feel like it can never be fully prepared. How can we be prepared for ALL the possible scenarios?
The Bible has a plethora of verses on being prepared, including many warnings about what happens when you aren’t. But, as with any topic, the Bible says a lot of things. Including not to worry…
So, in this season, we are invited to prepare - for whatever crazy things our calendar holds - knowing that there are always things we could never have been prepared for if we had planned for a million years.
We are asked to do our part… and to trust the bigger story is in Good Hands, much larger than our own.
