Under Pressure

Whew - May. This month is for many the most intense month of the year. I've often heard May is the new December; April is the new May. School is getting out. Everything is getting crammed into just a few weeks. Traffic patterns change. Work schedules fluctuate. Vacations are scheduled. It's HOT.

If you are feeling under pressure, this month's theme speaks to just that. Psalm 119:143 tells us, "Trouble & pressure have come upon me, but your commandments are my delights." While we are spinning all the plates, we need the reminders of what is solid and true, what is dependable and kind.

AND - we need the reminders to avoid making summertime just another extension of the May crazies. So many people can't wait for summer - but then create a summer calendar that is even more intense than what they just muddled through in the spring.

Adam Grant says it so well: "A busy life is not a symbol of status. It's a symptom of trying to do too much for too many people. A full calendar brings a surplus of stress and a shortage of energy. Reflecting and relaxing should be top priorities. Unscheduled time isn't wasted. It's invested in well-being."

You may not be able to avoid the insanity of May. But you do have the power to change the way you want to live your life. You DO have the power to make life a little easier. If you need some tips, let me know! We have some great groups upcoming that address this topic and so much more.

Today - make one easier decision for yourself. Release one slow cooker pressure valve that is raising your temperature. Deep breaths. Small steps. You got this.
